Payment

The full course payment is due upon booking your course. Course places not paid for within 7 days will be cancelled.

Cancellation by you

Should you have to cancel your booking the following charges will apply,

Cancellation Period:

- 14 days before course starts - Refund minus 10% of the course fee.
- 1 week or less before course starts - 100% of course fee.

If possible, we may be able to transfer you to another course date. This will only be done once and you lose the right to any refund.

Failure to attend all or part of a course will not result in any refund or transfer to other dates.

Cancellation by us -  In the unlikely event that part or all of a training course has to be cancelled by Banbury Cross Sailing Club, we will organise an alternative date to run the course at the next available opportunity.

Weather  - We endeavour to run training courses in most weathers and we check the forecasts frequently. If before the course we feel the weather would be unsafe to teach in, we will contact you to make alternative arrangements.

Liability  - Banbury Cross Sailing Club cannot be held liable for personal injury or loss however caused during your participation on a course or event.

Parking – Free parking is available on site. All vehicles and their contents are left at the owner’s risk..

Clothing   - Banbury Cross Sailing Club will provide buoyancy aids

We do not provide a wetsuits, spraysuits or drysuits.

No footwear will be provided therefore suitable footwear for the time of year must be brought by the applicant, and these will get wet.

For powerboat courses you will also need to bring full waterproofs and we recommend wellies are worn.

Changing rooms and small lockers for your valuables are available. We recommend you bring your own 40mm combination padlock for the locker.

RYA ratios and procedures will need to be adhered to.

Certification – Banbury Cross Sailing Club will provide RYA certificates and RYA log books appropriate to the course you are enrolled on. These are included in your course fees.

Membership – Students on the sailing training course will be full members of BCSC and have use of club boats for the time on the course, as such you agree to follow the Club’s Regulations.

Students on the power boat course will be temporary members for the duration of the course and as such you agree the follow the Club’s regulations.

Photography The club occasionally publishes pictures in its promotional material. You grant to the Club without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any non-identifiable motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or relating to activities at the Club of all those covered by this booking.

Problems or complaint -  If during your course you have a problem or complaint to make, initially contact should be made (verbally) to the instructor and also by email to the Commodore of Banbury Cross Sailing Club  via -  commodore.bcsc@gmail.com

Membership terms & conditions

·        I do/do not permit my address and phone number to be held on computer for the sole use of the sailing club. If this is not marked it is assumed that you agree.

·        I do/do not permit my phone number only to appear on a list to be circulated to other members only. If this is not marked it is assumed that you agree.

·        I do/do not permit my email address to appear on a list to be circulated to other members only. If this is not marked it is assumed that you agree. (If at any time you want any of your Information removed please inform the club Secretary in writing)

·        I agree to abide by the club rules, racing rules and sailing instructions and any regulations made by the Executive Committee under these rules.

·        Junior members must be supervised by a responsible parent/guardian at all times.

·        I agree to help with at least one bosun's work party during the year.

·        I agree to keep my boat fully insured at all times it is on the club premises/water, Proof maybe required.

·        Membership cards should be carried at all times when visiting the club.

·        Photographs or video taken at BCSC may be used in any appropriate media relating to the club.

 

Membership types:

Junior members are 18 and under. Due to data protection regulations, we can’t email juniors directly – please give the email address of a parent or responsible adult. Student members are in full-time education.

Seniors are over 60.

Sailing training packages include membership, use of club boats and a training course.

Powerboat training courses include temporary membership to BCSC.

 

Keys:

Access to the compound is by combination lock, the number will change each year. You must not share the code with anyone who is not a member of BCSC. Access to the boat parks and equipment shed is by key. Due to the cost of keys, a deposit of £10 is required, refundable on return. Please add £10 in the relevant place on the front of the form if you require a key, and arrange to collect it. You will be asked to sign for the key.

 

Boat storage terms & conditions

 

Boats/boards/trailers/trolleys may only be left on the club’s premises if the boat/board is registered with the club, a membership fee has been paid by the owner and a boat park fee has been paid for that boat/board. Any boat/board/trailer/trolley left on the Club premises is left entirely at the owner’s risk and the Club accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage.

All boats must be in good condition and usable on the water and fully insured. All trailers/trolleys must be in good condition and movable. Road trailers must be stored under your boat unless a separate storage fee is paid.

 

The Committee reserves the right to remove or reposition any boat/board/trailer trolley or other equipment should it be required.

If at any time the boat park fees payable to the club by any member or former member become one month or more in arrears, or are not paid by the renewal deadline of 31 March, the club shall be entitled, upon giving one month's notice in writing to the member or former member at his last known address shown in the register of members, to move and sell the boat and deduct any monies due to the club (whether by way of arrears or subscription, boat park fees or otherwise) from the proceeds of sale before accounting for the balance (if any) to the member or former member. Alternatively, any boat which, in the opinion of the Executive Committee cannot be sold may, upon such notice as aforesaid, be broken up and the expenses recovered from the member or former member. Further, the club shall at all times have a lien over the boat in respect of arrears of subscription or boat park fees or otherwise.
